How to create an Allowlist in Google Workspace

Prerequisites

  • Admin Access: You must be an administrator with access to the Google Admin Console.

Step 1: Log in to Google Admin Console

  • Go to the Google Admin Console.
  • Sign in using your admin credentials.
  • Ensure you are signed in with an account that has administrative privileges.

Step 2: Navigate to Gmail Settings

  1. In the Admin Console dashboard, click on Apps.
  2. Under Apps, click on Google Workspace.
  3. Select Gmail from the list of services.

Step 3: Navigate to Phising Settings

  1. Scroll down and click on Spam, Phishing, and Malware to manage email filtering policies.

Step 4: Open Spam Settings

  1. In the Gmail settings, scroll down to the Spam section.
  2. Click on Configure

Step 5: Configure the Spam Setting

  1. Look for the option that says 'Bypass spam filters and hide warnings for messages from senders or domains in selected lists.'.
  2. Enable the setting
  3. Click on Create or edit list.

Step 6: Create the Allowlist

  1. In the new window, click on Add Address List or if you already have a list click on Edit
  2. It's recommended to create a new, dedicated 'Safe Phishing' list, as this provides more granular logging and better tracking.

Step 7: Add the Domain to the Allowlist

  1. Give the list a name (e.g. 'Safe-Phishing').
  2. Click on Add Address
  3. Enter system-gateway.com in the Address section.
  4. Click Save.

Step 8: Apply the Settings

  1. In the original window click on Use existing list
  2. Ensure the new list is selected.
  3. Click Save.
